One Evening

One Evening

Jack sat nervously in his room, holding the cold hand of his unconscious ex-colleague Emilia. He couldn't believe what had just happened. They had met by chance at the pub and caught up over a few drinks, but he never expected things to take such a dramatic turn.

Emilia had been getting increasingly intoxicated as the night went on and, when she asked for a lift home, Jack agreed without hesitation. But as they drove along, Emilia became increasingly incoherent and, before he knew it, she had passed out in the car.

Jack was torn between panic and confusion. He had never been in a situation like this before and wasn't sure what to do. Should he call an ambulance? Or take her to the hospital himself? But something in him made him decide to bring her back to his room and let her sleep it off.

He gently lifted her into his arms and carried her to his bed, laying her down as carefully as he could. As he looked at her, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. He had been drinking too, and he knew he should have been more responsible.

He checked her pulse and felt her hand, which was still cold. He started rubbing her hand gently, trying to generate some warmth and bring some color back to her cheeks. He felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at her, so vulnerable and helpless.

As the night went on, Jack kept a close watch on Emilia, making sure she was breathing and her pulse remained steady. He couldn't shake the feeling of responsibility he had for her well-being. As the sun began to rise, Emilia stirred and slowly opened her eyes. Jack breathed a sigh of relief, and Emilia apologized for her behavior and thanked him for taking care of her.

Jack felt a sense of relief wash over him as he saw her awake and well. He knew that things would never be the same between them, but he was just happy that she was okay.
